Motherhood’s Magical Journey: Embracing New Adventures

It’s been such a nice bank holiday weekend, watching all of my five sons off on their own adventures. As a single mum, there are so many joys and challenges that come with raising children. But one of the most unexpected and beautiful experiences is feeling like I get to live my life again through my son’s experiences.

There’s something truly magical about seeing the world anew through their eyes. When they are on holiday, exploring new places, soaking in the sun, and enjoying life, it’s like I’m right there with him. The excitement they feel becomes my own. The wonder they experience reminds me of all the joy that the world has to offer and the travelling I never got to do at their age.

I didn’t anticipate how deeply I would connect with these moments. Whether they are coming home from a gig, exhilarated (and perhaps a bit tipsy), sharing the news that Oasis is back together, or heading out for a spontaneous night with friends, it feels like I’m reliving those youthful days of discovery, excitement, and freedom.

It’s not just about the big events either. Even in the smaller, quieter moments, I find myself rediscovering the beauty of life. When one shares a funny story from their day or tells me about a new passion they found, it’s like I’m rediscovering those things myself. The world becomes fresh and full of possibility again, through our children’s experiences.

Of course, this isn’t about living vicariously through my sons. It’s about the deep connection we share, and how their joy and excitement reignite my own sense of wonder. It’s a reminder that life is full of surprises, that it’s never too late to discover new things, and that there’s always something to look forward to.

As mothers, we give so much of ourselves to our children. But in return, they give us the gift of seeing the world through fresh eyes. Watching my sons navigate life, form friendships, and chasing dreams, I’m reminded of my own journey and how far I’ve come. And I can’t help but feel grateful for the opportunity to experience life anew, alongside five amazing humans.

So as I sit here, reflecting on the weekend and the adventures my sons have been on, I can’t help but smile. Life is beautiful, full of twists and turns, and endless possibilities. And through my sons, I’m reminded of that every day. It’s like I get to live it all again, and that’s truly magical.

They will forever be my proudest achievement and I am proud they call me Mum.

Hope your day is magical and you notice the small precious moments.

Love & healing hugs
