October was a bit of a rollercoaster, both physically and mentally, so I’m giving myself a well-deserved pat on the back for making it to November. As always, I focus on the small victories each month because those little moments of joy mean the most to me.
1. Enjoying the Autumn Sunshine
There’s something magical about autumn sunlight; this season is everything to me, sparking a deep happiness within. I feel more grounded in autumn, almost as if my body has adapted to the increase in pain. I feel anchored to the earth, solid in myself as a woman, which is a beautiful and powerful feeling.

2. The Goddess Path by Kirsty Gallagher
This book has quickly become one of my favourites. I have a small collection of books I return to during tough times, my “Rescue Box Books.” They’re the ones I reread when I need to be reminded of their wisdom, and The Goddess Path has earned its place in that special collection.

The book takes you on a 13-step journey to uncover what’s been hidden within. Walking the “goddess path” is about reclaiming self-worth, setting boundaries, trusting intuition, and embracing all parts of yourself, even the shadows. It’s packed with affirmations, rituals, and ancient goddess wisdom, inviting you to show up as your most powerful, authentic self. I know I’ll be turning to its pages often.
3. Seeing People’s True Colours
While sometimes painful, it’s ultimately a gift when the universe reveals someone’s true colours. It’s a bit like the big reveal in Scooby-Doo or the final clue in a game of Clue. I now look at this revelation as a beautiful, universal gift, bringing clarity and closure.
4. Creating My Own Art Gallery
I love Lush wallpaper, but it’s a bit out of my budget right now. So instead, I ordered some wallpaper samples and created a colourful gallery wall in my little room. The samples match perfectly with the room’s vibe and the other artwork I have there.
There’s something special about finding ways to enjoy the things you love without overspending. It’s so easy to get caught up in the notion that we should be able to afford everything, but my mum always taught me to buy only what I can afford. With my DIY gallery, I get to enjoy a beautiful space without straining my budget.
When I am feeling better I will get some nice photos to share with you.
5. The Marks & Spencer Christmas Food Catalogue
When the M&S Christmas food catalogue arrives, it feels like the festive season has officially begun. It gives me the same warm feeling as watching the John Lewis Christmas advert. I love treating my family to a few special items from the catalogue to make Christmas extra festive, little indulgences like sprout gratin, Christmas pudding, and red cabbage. So delicious!
6. The Last of My Wildflowers
This summer, I planted lots of wildflowers, and it’s been such a joy watching them grow, nurturing them, and seeing the bees and butterflies they attract. It’s a simple pleasure, but one that connects me to the natural world in such a meaningful way.

7. Crochet Club
We held our first-ever annual Crochet Club event, a cosy gathering where our vibrant community came together for a luxurious afternoon of creativity and fun. While we often connect online, meeting in person was wonderful, a chance to step away from screens and share our passion face-to-face.

8. That Post-Shower Feeling
There’s nothing like that fresh, clean feeling after a shower, slipping into new pyjamas, and curling up on the couch with a cosy blanket. Those little moments of comfort and self-care are priceless.
9. Thoughtful Gifts from My Sons
This month, I’ve been completely spoiled by my sons. We have such a special bond, and they are truly my rocks, my best friends, and my biggest supporters.
10. Red Nail Polish

It might sound simple, but red nail polish can brighten my world. When I’m feeling low or dealing with the constant ups and downs of fibromyalgia, those red nails remind me that I’m still me, Vanessa, who loves her red nails and all things womanly. They’re a small but powerful reminder of who I am, something I won’t compromise on, no matter what.
Thank you October
Here’s to carrying that warmth and appreciation into the months ahead!
Hope your day is magical and you notice the small precious moments.
Love & healing hugs
