As I approach six months of deep inner healing through CBD therapy and transformative practices, I reflect on this milestone with gratitude.
True spirituality is a deeply personal journey of self-discovery, not about projecting perfection or following trends. It requires looking inward, confronting shadows, and embracing every part of yourself, the light and dark, the beautiful and uncomfortable.
Today’s spiritual landscape can feel cluttered with polished ideals and superficial affirmations, but real healing is about authenticity. It’s not about external validation or fitting an image; it’s about the courage to face your true self.
For me, the past months have been profoundly transformative. I’ve learned not just who I am, but why I am. This healing journey, though difficult, has been the most beautiful I’ve ever undertaken, bringing me closer to a sense of wholeness, not by erasing my past but by embracing it.
To anyone battling their inner struggles, I see you. Healing isn’t linear, and it can feel overwhelming, but it is transformative. You are not broken; you’re simply healing. Be patient with yourself. You’re exactly where you need to be.
There were times when I felt burdened by the weight of my own emotions. Despite therapy and self-work, I clung to certain pains as protective mechanisms. It wasn’t until I was truly ready that I began to let them go. On a holiday with my sons, watching the sunrise, I explained my depression as if it were an old companion.
Life will always throw curveballs, but I’ve learned to roll with the changes. Therapy and inner healing have given me tools to navigate these challenges, offering a space for growth and profound self-awareness. While everyone’s journey is unique, certain universal truths emerge when we allow ourselves to truly heal. These lessons guide us toward a more balanced, fulfilling life.
The things I have learnt so far on my journey
1. You Can’t Heal What You Hide
Healing begins when you face your pain. Trying to escape or suppress it only delays the process. Stop saying “I’m Fine” as a reply. Allow yourself to feel, share how you feel even when it hurts, because that’s the path to growth.
2. Sensitivity Is A Superpower
Being sensitive doesn’t make you weak; it makes you alive. To feel deeply, the joy, the sorrow, and everything in between, is to live fully. Sensitivity means you’re open to the beauty and pain of life, even when it overwhelms you.
3. The Art of Letting Go
Not everything is meant to be carried forever. Healing often requires discerning what to release and when. Letting go isn’t about forgetting; it’s about making space for what truly matters.
4. How We Carry The Weight of Pain
Some pain lingers, not as an enemy but as a companion. a shield against deeper wounds.
Is it time to let go of that pain as it is no longer serving as protection?
5. Setbacks Teach Us
Life’s setbacks are not failures but lessons. They reveal what we need to move forward and help us understand our body’s and mind’s needs.
What are you afraid of? Why does it matter? Facing these questions can transform fear into acceptance and vulnerability into strength. Embrace your limits without letting them define you.
6. Acknowledge Your Journey
Healing begins with acceptance. Recognise where you’ve been and honour the strength it took to survive.
Your past matters as it is who you are now but don’t let it keep you hostage.
7. Reconnecting with Joy
Depression can rob us of wonder. To reclaim it, start small. Revisit what once made you smile, a favourite book, a walk in nature, or a cherished song. These small joys can act as breadcrumbs leading you back to yourself.
Look for the small precious moments.
8. Practicing Radical Self-Compassion
Silence your inner critic and replace judgment with kindness. Treat yourself as you would a friend. Healing requires patience and gentleness, especially when you stumble.
What would you say to little you? What would you say to another woman?
8. Calling Back Your Inner Child
Reconnect with the part of you that once thrived on joy and curiosity. As Samantha Lourie writes, “I started calling that girl back…the girl who danced instead of walking, the girl with sunflowers for eyes.” Nurture her with kindness and effort, and she will re-emerge.
Call that girl back ALWAYS!
9. Rediscovering Your Core Values
When life feels chaotic, revisit your core values. What truly matters to you? If your current path feels misaligned, make small adjustments to live more authentically.
What truly matters? Who are you when no one is watching?
10. Letting Go of “Shoulds”
Free yourself from societal and self-imposed expectations. Focus on who you truly want to be. Redefine success and set boundaries that protect your peace.
Don’t let anyone tell you that your protective boundaries for peace are wrong.
11. Seek Support
Healing isn’t a solo journey. Reach out to friends, join a support group, or seek therapy. Sharing your struggles can offer fresh perspectives and lighten your burden.
Ask for help.
12. Embracing the Process
Healing isn’t a destination; it’s a continuous journey. Celebrate small victories and trust that every step brings you closer to rediscovering your essence.
Healing is never linear.
13. Rejection and Resilience
Rejection can make you feel like you need to change to be accepted. Instead, focus on embracing your authenticity. Your worth isn’t tied to others’ opinions. Choose you even if they don’t.
14. Celebrate Progress, Not Perfection
Pride doesn’t have to wait for monumental wins. Celebrate every small step forward. For me, it’s about awarding myself imaginary gold stars: got out of bed? Gold star. Tried something new? Another gold star.
Never stop awarding yourself the gold stars.
15. Surround Yourself with Positivity
Choose to be around people who uplift you and recognise your strength. Avoid energy vampires who drain you, they’re often drawn to compassionate souls but rarely replenish what they take.
Boundary up to energy vampires.
16. Forgiveness Frees You
Let go of resentment for your peace. Do it for you not them.
17. Celebrate Every Comeback
Every stumble is a chance to rise stronger. Celebrate your resilience, even if it’s marked by scars. Healing isn’t about erasing pain but finding beauty and meaning in the process.
Healing is messy, imperfect, and deeply human. It’s a testament to your strength and a journey toward balance, authenticity, and joy.
Every time you rise from a setback, you become a beacon of hope. Your story, flaws, struggles, and triumphs, reminds others that it’s okay to fall, as long as you choose to rise again.
Celebrate the “Descansas” of your life and then rebirth as the Goddess you are.
18. Go Back To The Route Cause
Understanding the root cause is key because otherwise you will continue to only address the symptoms and never fully recover. Our nervous system is the root cause of your chronic symptoms. It will reignite your recovery and healing journey and you will be equipped with the knowledge to take the next steps in your recovery.
Remember as you navigate this journey, hold onto this truth: you are not defined by the darkness you’ve faced but by the light you’re finding again.
19. Your Story Matters
Your life isn’t defined by how many times you fall but by how often you rise. Every comeback adds a new chapter to your story, proof of resilience, strength, and transformation.
Your story matters so ignore the vulnerability hangover.
20. Expect Lots of Vulnerability Hangovers
A vulnerability hangover is a feeling of discomfort, regret, or self-doubt that can occur after sharing personal thoughts, feelings, or experiences. Let go of shame and wear your scars with pride. They’re a testament to the battles you’ve fought and won.
Give your vulnerability hangovers a gold star as it shows you are being authentic and raw.
Lastly
Remember, healing isn’t about achieving perfection, it’s a process. Growth is messy, nonlinear, and deeply human. As Marcos Alvarado said, “You don’t have to be 100% healed to deserve love and good things in life.”
So, to anyone navigating the messy, beautiful path of inner healing: you are not alone. This journey is sacred, and every step you take brings you closer to the light within. Embrace the process, trust in your strength, and remember, you are exactly where you need to be.
Keep shining. The world needs your light.
Hope your day is magical and you notice the small precious moments.
Love & healing hugs
