There’s something truly magical about this time of year, it’s peony season, girls!
And let me tell you, I am ready for it.
I truly adore peonies. Their lush, soft petals, the way they bloom into these decadent, overflowing flowers , they feel like a celebration of beauty itself. Now, don’t get me wrong: yellow roses are still my forever favourite (they’ve had my heart for as long as I can remember). But peonies come in at a very close second. There’s just something about them that feels like a whispered promise of happiness.
Last year, though, I didn’t buy any.
Long boring story so I will try and condense it…. I split up with an ex this time last year and I didn’t want my beautiful peonies to remind me of that time and more importantly, that man. The thought of bringing home peonies, of all things, felt too heavy, like a joy I couldn’t quite reach for at the time. So I didn’t.
But this year?
This year is different.
This year feels magical.
The air is lighter, my heart is lighter, and I can’t wait to fill my home with armfuls of peonies. It’s amazing how nature, with all its simple wonders, reflects the seasons of our own lives. And this season, finally, feels like it’s about blooming again.

Here’s to fresh starts, sweet blossoms, and filling our lives with all the beauty we can find.
Peony season, I’m ready for you.

I get the joy of buying established flowers, receiving beautiful bouquets of them (thanks son!) and also watch my own little babies grow strong.
Last year, I found so much happiness and therapy in planting flowers and watching them bloom. The simple pleasure of seeing bees and butterflies dance around my garden became my therapy, a reminder of nature’s magic and the power of growth.
One of the many beautiful changes I made in my life last year was gardening. It helped to clear my mind to be playing with soul and the symbolic feeling of planting something and watching it grow alongside my personal growth was so cathartic for me.
I decided to plant my own peonies from bare root that would bloom each year in my own little garden during the first week of this year.

As this new year began, I reminded myself that the joy we seek often starts with the little things we nurture today. My bare-root peony plants arrived, and I couldn’t wait to get them into pots, preparing for the beauty they’ll bring in the months ahead.
Here’s to planting the seeds of happiness now, both in our gardens and in our hearts.

My bare-root peonies are from a lovely company called Hayloft (Instagram @hayloft ) super service, fast and reliable. Just look how stunning my bare roots were the day they arrived and how they have grown so beautifully.
Love & healing hugs
