Books & Yarn: My September Reads

I’ve always loved reading whether it’s curling up with a good book or losing myself in an audiobook while my crochet hook dances through the yarn. This little blog section isn’t a review so much as a catalogue for me, a gentle record of what’s been filling my mind and heart lately. But if you’re looking for some new reading inspiration, perhaps something here will speak to you too.

When I’m crocheting, I love to listen to audiobooks.

Watching TV can sometimes feel too overstimulating, but switching off and losing myself in a good story while my hands find their rhythm is deeply soothing for my soul. There’s something magical about how words and stitches weave together, each loop a pause, each chapter a companion to the flow of yarn.

Here’s my list of books I completed in September:

1. Broken Country by Claire Leslie Hall

My opinion 5/5

A beautifully written, emotionally layered story that stayed with me long after I finished.

    2. All My Mothers by Joanna Glen

    My opinion ️4/5

Tender and nostalgic, it felt like peeling back the layers of identity and belonging.

    3. The Autistic Survival Guide To Therapy by Steph Jones

    My opinion ️4/5

Insightful, compassionate, and incredibly helpful in understanding the therapy space from a neurodivergent perspective.

    4. Chasing Fog by Laura Pashby

    My opinion ️5/5

Dreamy, reflective, and written in a way that feels like soft light filtering through morning mist, a quiet treasure.

    5. The Burnout by Sophie Kinsella

    My opinion 4/5

Light hearted yet relatable, exploring exhaustion, rediscovery, and finding joy again, the perfect listen for slower days.

Current Listen: The Women by Kristin Hannah

Only partway through, but I already know it’s going to stay with me.

Do you enjoy books or audiobooks while you create?

I used to share my current reads in my Instagram stories all the time, and it feels lovely to bring them back here. Books and yarn just belong together, two threads of comfort that somehow make my world feel softer.

    Love & hugs
