Back in 2024, I decided to share my latest monthly yarn haul, but with a twist. It was not about showing off new yarn; it was part of a journey to embrace a more intentional, minimalist lifestyle.
Cutting back on my yarn addiction one skein at a time…
Hopefully, I will build a little library of months when I didn’t buy anything, I simply used what I had in my stash.
And maybe, inspire someone else to do the same.
My Haul This Month:
This month was a purchase month as I want to build my catalogue of colour combinations, and I have not completed one for a while. To make my granny squares, I use thirteen balls of chunky yarn. I have found this to be the most useful size for other people to be able to make. Any larger and it becomes a big yarn purchase that may put some people off. Crochet can be an expensive hobby if you are making super-sized blankets!
Let’s do a deep dive into what I bought.
Yarn: Stylecraft Special Chunky
Shade: Red Pepper, Mushroom, Pale Rose, Dark Brown, Denim, Mocha, Duck Egg, Burgundy, Storm Blue, Lipstick

What I plan to make:
A beautiful granny square blanket, which I am halfway through.

Yarnsmiths Woolly Wool
Within that order, I purchased some of that beautiful Woolly Wool from Yarnsmiths. I was gifted some yarn earlier this month, which was absolutely beautiful, so I wanted to make another snood in a different colourway.

Other Dopamine Yarn Hauls
(Gifted or Commissions)
Yarn: Yarnsmiths Woolly Wool
Shades: Antique Gold, Olive Green, Robin Egg, Teal, Cornflower Blue, Fuisha Pink & Bubblegum

PR/Gifted Product Disclosure:This item was kindly gifted to me for review purposes. I haven’t been paid to feature it, and all thoughts, opinions, and experiences shared are completely my own. I only recommend products I genuinely use and believe may be helpful for you.
This yarn is supersoft and warm as it is 100% wool, so it is perfect for a Winter Snood.

Another beautiful colourway is this one, which is an “Old School GIFTED” also known as “Ness, do you want this yarn?” I don’t like it…

Yarn: Painbox Chunky palette of black, creams, pinks and lilacs.
What I plan to make: Not sure yet
Conclusion
I’m so happy with my yarn this month, and I feel incredibly blessed to have been gifted some beautiful balls of yarn.
It made me think back to a few years ago when my love of crochet had started to outgrow my budget. I was crocheting so quickly that keeping myself supplied with yarn became an expense I simply couldn’t sustain.
Now, in a rather unexpected way, life has slowed me down. Whether it’s the trapped nerves in my arm, the therapy, or no longer being in a relationship that drained so much of my energy, I’m not rushing through projects anymore. Instead, I’m pouring that energy into filling my own happiness cup.
And finally… I never bought anything I didn’t actually need, so I think I deserve a little gold star for that.
Here’s to celebrating the small wins every single day.
I hope your day feels magical, and that you notice all the little precious moments along the way
Love & healing hugs
