Back in 2024, I decided to share my latest monthly yarn haul, but with a twist. It was not about showing off new yarn; it was part of a journey to embrace a more intentional, minimalist lifestyle.
Cutting back on my yarn addiction one skein at a time…
Hopefully, I will build a little library of months when I didn’t buy anything, I simply used what I had in my stash.
And maybe, inspire someone else to do the same.
My Haul

Let’s do a deep dive into what I bought.
Yarn: Yarnsmiths Merino DK Superwash
Shade: Candyfloss Pink, Bubblegum, Sienna Red, Antique Gold, Sugar Plum, Latte and Pale Lilac.
What I plan to make:
A beautiful granny square baby blanket.

Using up my stash:
I finished the Yarnsmiths Merino DK blanket really quickly, as it is such an enjoyable yarn to crochet. This left me with a dilemma: do I start a new WIP using yarn from my stash or pick up an old WIP that needed completing?
Couldn’t decide, so I opted for both!

Shade: Confetti
I have a MASSIVE ball of yarn from a blanket I frogged. I adore this yarn, but wasn’t happy with the way it looked as a granny, so I rolled it up into a huge ball. It was time to turn this yarn into something pretty using linen stitch, which I think will work better with the shade distribution.
The next completed Stash Buster was using a bag of Stylecraft yarn and mixing it with some Yarnsmiths Nirvana Aran Sage Serenity. This yarn is stunning, but I only had one ball in my stash. I am happy with the purple and green tones and how this granny turned out.

and then the wildcard stash buster… an all-white granny square, which was so very odd for me. I bought the yarn a while back with a view to hand-dyeing it, but it never materialised. The poor yarn has sat on my shelf unloved.

Shade: White
Conclusion
Well, I am super proud of myself for not making excessive purchases. I was so happy to be able to purchase some of the Merino yarn, and also utterly content with the yarn stash crochet. I spent this month, but I never bought what I did not need, and for that, I get a gold star
Celebrating the small wins daily!
Hope your day is magical and you notice the small, precious moments.
